Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease with a high incidence in various countries, including Indonesia. Poor levels of sugar control are the cause of complications of diabetes mellitus. Diabetes knowledge is one of the keys to assist in controlling blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients. Objective: This research assesses the associations between diabetes knowledge and glycemic control among diabetes mellitus patients in Garut District, Indonesia. Methode: The research method was designed using a cross-sectional with a number of sample 54 responded. data take with structured self-report interviews based on validated instruments for assessing diabetes knowledge and observation sheet to monitor blood sugar levels to assess glycemic control. The diabetes knowledge instrument contains questions about the concept of diabetes and management of diabetes in general. Glycemic control was measured by the value of blood sugar once a week for 4 weeks. Chi-Square statistical test was used to analyze the data. Results: The research findings that 19 respondents had good knowledge and controlled blood sugar levels. 35 respondents with insufficient knowledge where 31 respondents had uncontrolled blood sugar levels and 4 respondents had controlled blood sugar levels. Chi-Square test finds a significant probability (p= 0.000), there was a relationship between diabetes knowledge and Glycemic control. Conclusion: Diabetes knowledge is the important factors associated with glycemic control. Education for patients diabetes mellitus are suggested to improve control glycemic diabetes patient.

No Abstract

This study was carried out using 36 paraffin block specimen collected from bone biopsies diagnosed in National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu. Twenty four (24) of this blocks representing 66.6 % were from male patients while the other twelve (12) representing 33.3 % were from female patients. All the cases were diagnosed as osteosarcoma between January 2010 and June 2016. Five (5) out of the 36 blocks were used as controls. Duplicate (2) sections were made from each block and stained with H &E as well as Highman’scongo red technique. In demonstrating amyloid deposit, in the 36 test samples, 13.8% were positive for amyloid with H &E while 11.1% of the total 36 test samples were positive for amyloid with Highman’s Congo red technique. This test result shows a low incidence of amyloidosis in osteosarcoma. In addition, Congo red showed greater specificity, eliminating false positive result, hence a better stain in all amyloid study.

Maternal health is a major focus of global public health. Over the years, nations have taken many initiatives, and the improved health indicators are a result of that. However, improvement in national data does not guarantee the improvement of health situation at sub-national level. Disparities have been seen on the basis of place of residence, education level of women, ethnicity, economic status etc. The aim of this study is to describe the maternal health indicators of selected wards of Barahachhetra municipality Sunsari. A descriptive cross-sectional design was used. Two hundred thirty three reproductive aged married women were taken from total enumeration. A pretested semi structured interview schedule was used to collect the data. Frequencies, percentage, mean and chi-squired test were used to analyze the data and the level of significance was at 0.05. All the pregnant women had an at least one antenatal examination from a skilled provider. One third (33.2%) of the respondents had become mother while they were adolescent. The contraceptive prevalence rate was 36.05%, unmet need of FP was 53.21%. Among family planning users, majority (89.3%) used modern methods. Among the deliveries occurred within a year, 20.6% were home deliveries without skilled birth attendant. The use of family planning methods has statistically significant association with age and education level of women. There is a huge disparity in maternal health indicators specifically in the use of family planning and adolescent pregnancy while comparing with national level. Therefore these areas should be emphasized while preparing health related plan.
