Background: Childhood cancer is a leading cause of death. Acute myeloblastic leukemia, the second leading cause of childhood leukemia, is not uncommon in Cameroon. Methods: We conducted a descriptive retrospective study in the department of Hematology Oncology in the Mother and Child Center of Chantal Biya Foundation, from March 2011 to February 2017 that is a period of 6 years. Results: We had 25 cases; the average age was 8 years with a sex ratio of 0.92. The FAB classification found 9 cases of AML 1 (36%), 6 cases of AML 5 (24%), 3 cases of AML 3 (12%), 3 cases of AML 2 (12%), 2 cases of AML 4 (8%) and 2 (8%) cases unidentified. We treated 20 patients, 9 (45%) had complete remission. The remission period was between 1 and 48 months, for an average of 20 months. The probability of survival for patients at 50 weeks was almost nil. Mean survival was 34 weeks with a confidence interval (CI) between [10,157-58,718]. Conclusion: The treatment is possible, but the absence of management constitutes a reason for abandonment of the treatment which makes the protocols not evaluable.

Purpose: Children with cancer arrive at treatment centers at advanced stages of the disease, with a survival rate of less than 30%. This study analyzes the path of children with cancer to the Hematology-Oncology Department of the Mother and Child Center of the Chantal Biya Foundation in Yaounde. Materials and methods: We conducted a descriptive cross-sectional study from November 2015 to July 2016 including all children aged 0 to 18 years with a confirmed diagnosis of cancer. Data was collected using a questionnaire. Results: We had 155 patients, with a sex ratio of 1.38. The median age was 6 years, with peaks of 2 months and 18 years. The must represented symptoms was fever (29.2%), followed by abdominal swelling (19.4%). The median number of resorts before the CME was 3 (2-4) with a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 15. 64.5% of children were brought to consultation in primary care to a general practitioner. 91 patients had at least three remedies: doctors (69.5%), healers and others (21.8%). The referral of children was mainly made by a pediatrician (29.5%). The average time between the onset of symptoms and consultation was 8 months. Patients came mostly at stages 3 and 4 at 51% and 39.4%, respectively. Conclusion: The majority of patients go to modern medicine. The time of arrival at the Service is long, the stages to the diagnosis very advanced.

Most medicines used in the treatment of human diseases today are extracted from herbs that have been considered as an herbal medicine in traditional medicine. As the use of synthetic drugs and the emergence of pathogenic strains has increased, efforts to replace chemical drugs with cost-effective herbal remedies have increased. In this regard, every year many researchers from this huge plant source are sending a range of secondary compounds to the consumer market for the treatment of human diseases. Therefore, the identification of herbs with antimicrobial effects can help to produce new drugs with a broad spectrum of effects. This study, based on scientific references, describes information on the antimicrobial effects of Mentha pulegium.

Gestational diabetes is a carbohydrate intolerance of variable severity with onset or first recognition during pregnancy. It occurs in all ages but more pronounced among the aging pregnant women. Haematological parameters have been reported as good markers to monitor the gestational diabetes patients. Careful haematological investigations will help to improve the wellbeing of the affected patients and prevent it as predictors of the severity of the disease. This paper was written to enhance the knowledge of the society on this incident that happens to a lot of pregnant women if not monitored may precipitate so many damages in the systems and organs of the pregnant women.
